Hey there and welcome! I'm an art student currently working on meeting my goal to work for Blizzard Entertainment. *fangirl squee* I've been playing WoW on and off since vanilla days. I'm certainly no pro, though. Reading through my QQs, I'll write about various things across the growing Blizzard universe. This blog is based on my personal thoughts and mine alone. Thanks for enduring my typos and stuff! :D @pandafeifei

World of Warcraft: The Movie
I'm beyond interested to see what they do for the movie... there are just one too many rumors that go about it. One says they are doing it based on lore... interviews say they are going to base it on gameplay (from an adventurers perspective)... heard it wont follow much lore... heard it will be a series/chronicle... WHO KNOWS. Date is set for 2011 or 2012... Way too long for me. I can prolly write 15 different stories based on my "adventuring" within a year. (I want a cookie!)
After browsing around for a little more info, I came across http://warcraft.moviechronicles.com/2007-08/high-resolution-concept-art/. Clicked around and such and found a very interesting list someone posted of actors s/he thought would be fitting for each race for lead roles.
This was posted on January 23, 2010 by Edd.
The representatives for each race (as I see it) are these:
Male ~
Human: Viggo Mortensen or Eric Bana
Night Elf: Orlando Bloom or Craig Parker
Gnome: Mini Me or Sean Astin
Dwarf: John Rhys-Davies or a very serious Jack Black
Draenei: Jean Reno or Marcel Iures
Orc: Gerard Butler or Mikey Rourke
Troll: Peter Mensah or Antonio Te Maioho
Undead: David Bradley or Hugh Laurie
Tauren: Michael Clarke Duncan or Nick Nolte
Blood Elf: Keanu Reeves or Johnny Depp
Female ~
Human: Natalie Portman or Keira Knightley
Night Elf: Uma Thurman or Angelina Jolie
Gnome: Mika Winkler or Reese Witherspoon
Dwarf: Janeane Garofalo or Nicki Clyne
Draenei: Monica Bellucci or Catherine Zeta-Jones
Orc: Selma Hayek or Vivica A. Fox
Troll: Eva Longoria or Penelope Cruz
Undead: Jessica Alba or Kate Beckinsale
Tauren: Camryn Manheim or Kathleen Turner
Blood Elf: Tara Reid or Tricia Helfer
I did this list without too much consideration, so don’t take me too seriously.
Now, I can see the Vigo and the human male thing... Keira or Natalie might be too generic... but it might fit. Night elf male... Orlando Bloom? He's too pretty. NE males are not pretty. Even Craig might be too "pretty" for a NE... Craig and Orlando would make better blood elf in my opinion. The blonde elf hair from LoTR is already befitting for a BE... The NE are taller and dark compared to its light skinned, magic addicts, the BE. Also, the facial features are more complex and vastly different. NE look more worn out... older and mature. BE look young a little younger and smoother facial features. Tara Reid... I can dig it. She'd look hot on top a hawkstrider. Maybe as a spunky little hunter or pally (not quite, but kinda there). Tricia... eh... I see it... but as a healing role... nothing crazy. Her appearance looks kind. From what I saw on a quick Google image glimpse. Uma may make a decent NE... Angie... hmmm............. troll? Trolls would be more fitting, but I suppose a NE druid role would work nicely. *thinking..............* Ok, I'm bought. Angelina Jolie would make a GREAT NE druid for sure.
Mika Winkler may be too tall for the part, but her spunk would fit the gnomish personality very well. Reese could possibly be the most perfect of voices and really hold that role well... tough call for that. Gnome male is just a no brainer. Sorry John, you are forever stuck with the dwarf role. Jack Black? Mmm... maybe. I agree, he'd have to really get serious for this role unless he is running around in the background just being drunk and merry. Jeneane... yes. Nicki... hm... I can't see it as well as Jeneane, but she could do.
I love Jean. He works when with any role. I'm biast. Love him! Marcel... perhaps. These are some well aged men. Paint them blue and slap on a couple horns, and we could go places. I love Monica as a mental draenei. I definately see it. Catherine, possibly. They hold a lot of beauty... and draenei are kinda pretty as well... both wouldn't be too bad for consideration. Mickey and Gerald! We have our Orgrim and Durotan! Gerald would make a great warrior type while Mickey would have more shamanic qualities. Good selection there Edd. I agree with you on that. And I agree with either woman for an orc role. Vivica over Selma though, but both would be great.
Peter Mensah? Oh yeah, I can see him blue, with medium tusks. Antonio... eh. Yes and no. Its really hard to say. Troll females have their own sexy deminor, so either Eva or Penelope could work well.
David Bradley. Perrrrfect. Hugh Laurie. Seeeeexxxxxxyyyyyyy. David looks and fits the part. Hugh (sexy) looks and fits the part. The personality of G. House would work well with the undead's crudeness. God... both guys would just do too well for the part. Maybe a scene in an apothecarium in UC or something. Yes yes yes! (Imagines Hugh bitch slapping an abomination with a stick) Kate and Jessica may be too sexy for an undead female... Kate may work better than Jessica. Mooooooove on out th'way for Camryn! Kathleen may be a great choice as well. Both share the quality of the peaceful tauren, but mostly just in size, but personality. Nick, no way. Michael doing the peanut butter jelly banana dance... Awesome.
These were not bad choices at all. Some perfectly fitting, some not so much, and the rest would work with a little tweaking. All in all Edd, not a bad job. We shall see though! I hope they select great faces and personalities for each race and roles. I'm looking forward to what the writers will come up with and how Sam will direct. I would really love it even more if I could get a job on that project in general. I wouldn't care if I was a simple production assistant again... *sigh*
